CODE OF ETHICS FOR SOCCER OFFICIALS

  • That I shall always maintain the  utmost respect for the game of soccer.
  • I will conduct myself in a gentlemanly  or ladylike manner at all times and maintain the dignity of my profession.
  • That I shall take pride in my  appearance and wear the uniform designated by NJSIAA.
  • That I shall appear on time at all games and perform my pre-game duties.
  • That I will endeavor to attend local meetings and clinics so as to best know the rules and their  interpretation.
  • That I shall always honor a  contractual obligation.
  • That I will always carry my  share of  the load and strive to achieve maximum teamwork with my partner.
  • That I shall be loyal to my  fellow  officials and never knowingly permit or promote criticism of them.
  • That I shall be in good  physical  condition so as to be in the right place at the right time.
  • That I will control the  players effectively by being courteous and considerate without  sacrificing firmness.
  • That I will maintain impartiality and will not socialize with the players, coaches or fans or permit myself to  be distracted from my duties and obligations.
  • That I shall assist my fellow  official  to improve his/her work.
  • That I will limit my remarks about any  game officiated to clarification or interpretation of the Laws  of the  Game.
  • That I shall live up to the  credo of  the ideal official "who notices everything, but is seldom  noticed himself".
  • That I consider it a privilege to be a member of the SSOA and will uphold its objectives.
