Concussion Policy

If you require that a player be removed who exhibits “signs, symptoms or behavior consistent with a concussion,” while the rule states that the player shall not return until “cleared by an appropriate health care professional,” our state interpreter, Alan Brown, has included a phrase that the health care professional must be “trained in concussion recognition and treatment.” Accordingly, unless you are absolutely certain that the health care professional is so specially “trained in concussion recognition and treatment,” you should not permit that player to return to play.

INTERPRETATION:  In any case, the safety of the player is paramount and I would recommend that the player not be permitted to return to play.

We are going to transmit this information to the Shore Conference.
