- 1. Any member of the SSOA who does not satisfy meeting requirements will be fined $20 per each meeting missed below the minimum meeting requirement.
- 2.Members who participate in an SSOA sanctioned event as determined by the Executive Board will receive credit for one meeting for purposes of the attendance requirement.
- 3. Any active member of the SSOA who wishes to officiate who does not attend an interpretation meeting within New Jersey will be fined $50 and will not be eligible to officiate games during that season.
- 4. Any member of the SSOA who fails to pay the assignors fee within 30 days after receiving their bill will be fined $50 and will not receive any further officiating assignments until all arrears are paid. The fine assessed will be paid to the SSOA.
- 5. Any member who misses any game assignment without adequate cause will be fined one game fee. A second or subsequent fine for the same offense will result in the matter being referred to the Professional Standards Committee for appropriate action and recommendations.
- 6. All fines and assessments levied against any SSOA member must be paid within 30 days after the official is notified of the fine or assessment. Failure to meet this requirement will result in the suspension of membership in the SSOA.
- 7. A varsity official that arrives later than five minutes prior to the start of a scheduled match shall officiate the junior varsity or sub varsity match. The official who takes the place of another official who is late for a contest shall notify the assignor within 24 hours of the completion of the match of the change in game assignments.
- 8. A member who has been inactive and who has not paid dues for two years and who now wishes to resume officiating matches will be considered as a new member and will be required to take the [appropriate] cadet course and state examination. A member who has been inactive and not paid dues for less than two years may be reinstated upon payment of all outstanding fees.
- 9. Each year, an open book exam must be taken and a passing grade of 85 per cent must be achieved. A $50 fine will be assessed against any member whose exam is not returned in a timely manner, as determined by the Professional Standards Committee. Failure to achieve a passing grade on the open book test will result in a retest. Failure to achieve a passing grade on the retest will result in the temporary loss of assignments and attendance at a mandatory training session, administered by the Chapter Interpreter, followed by a closed book retest and for which the official be assessed a fee of one varsity game. Failing to achieve an 85 percent passing grade on the closed book retest will result in a one-year suspension, pending a hearing before the Professional Standards Committee, which shall suggest appropriate procedures for possible reinstatement.
- 10. Varsity officials who are inactive for a period of three years and who wish to return to active status for varsity games must work one season at the sub-varsity level, will be subject to appropriate assessment, and will be required to pass the SSOA chapter exam before resuming officiating varsity matches.
- 11. An official who officiates as referee in the Shore Conference Boys or Girls Finals will be ineligible to officiate another final for two years.
- 12. Members who are elected to the SSOA Hall of Fame are exempt from paying regular SSOA dues.
- 13. Members who have active status in another chapter as well as the SSOA must take the SSOA refresher test and achieve a passing grade of 85 percent, attend the SSOA rules clinic, and attend at least half of the SSOA meetings.
- 14. Any member of the SSOA who referees a sanctioned match in which the official uniform [including shirt, approved foot wear, and socks] is not worn will be subject to a one-half game fee for the first offense and a full game fee for a second offense. Any subsequent offense shall be referred to the Professional Standards Committee for appropriate action. SSOA members are encouraged to bring improper uniforms to the attention of offenders and to report violations to the Professional Standards Committee.
- 15. The immediate past President of the SSOA shall serve as an ex-officio member of the Executive Board for one year.
- 16. In determining the selection of a school for the Sportsmanship Award, the conduct of a schools fans may be considered as one of the criteria for the award.
- 17. For purposes of recognition and service awards based upon years of service to the SSOA, only years of active€¯ membership will be counted.
- 18.All SSOA officials must work at least 8 games assigned by our chapter assignor during this season or you will be suspended from the active roster next season.
- 19. That upon the recommendation of any two members of the executive committee of the SSOA, that a special committee of the SSOA, composed of the President, Interpreter, Vice President and the Chairman of the Professional Standards Committee, may authorize the assignor to refuse to assign officials to any (away) State Tournament match if the special committee decides by unanimous vote, that a team, coaching staff, or it’s fans have acted in a persistantly unsporting manner to the detriment of Shore Soccer.
- 20. That any soccer official who (turns back) a game that has previously been accepted shall, at the discretion of the assignor with exception for emergencies, be assessed $3.00 per game. This policy shall be enforced with the commencement of the 2009 season. The monies collected shall go back to the association.
